YDance Routes was a national dance programme that offered workshops, performances, training, networking events and support to inspire, develop and broaden the horizons of Scotland’s young dancers. The programme included Connections weekend of dance workshops, the annual Destinations performance event and Growing, a networking opportunity and development day for Dance Leaders.
Connections weekend was a fun dance opportunity for youth dance groups and individuals, of all dance styles, from across Scotland. Dancers aged between 12 and 21 came together for three days to take part in different dance and choreographic workshops, and create and perform a new dance piece. The weekend involved:
Taking part in different dance workshops over three days;
Working with choreographers specialising in different dance styles;
Experiencing how different choreographers teach and create movement;
Developing your dance technique, creative moment skills and performance quality;
Meeting like-minded dancers from across Scotland.
YDance Routes Destinations was a vibrant showcase of the best youth dance companies from across Scotland. Each year, all youth dance groups, of all styles of dance, were invited to apply to take part in the annual performance event. From all the applications, up to 14 groups were selected to perform. It was an exciting opportunity, offering dance groups of dancers aged 12 – 21 the chance to showcase their own creative piece of work.
Destinations is now a stand alone project. You can find out more information on our Destinations page.
YDance Routes Growing offered free professional development opportunities for Dance Artists, allowing them to spend a full day with a choreographer and also time to network with one another.
