The Jump In project was targeted at primary schools across Scotland. YDance spent five weeks working in a Local Authority, in partnership with the Youth Arts Hub, with classes from six participating primary schools with children aged 7 – 11. During the five week period the young people worked with a YDance Tutor to create a new dance piece to be performed for friends and family. From there we ran FREE weekly dance sessions in the area.
YDance Tutors worked with young people from Achancairn, Borgue, Gatehouse, Kirkudbright (p4 & p5) and Twynholm primary schools to create 6 new dance pieces based around the theme of Rio. A performance will take place on Friday 18 March 2016 at Kirkudbright Primary School, free to family and friends.
YDance Tutors worked with young people from Abbey, Blacklands, Coreshill, Pennyburn, St Luke’s, St Winnings and Whitehurst primary schools to create 7 new dance pieces around the theme of Alice in Wonderland. A performance took place on Wednesday 30 September at Kilwinning Academy, free to family and friends.
YDance Tutors worked with young people from Aultmore Park, Oakwood, St Benedict’s, St Pauls, St Rose of Lima and Wellshot primary schools to create 6 new dance pieces based on stories from Scotland’s Storybook from Education Scotland. The performance took place Thursday 1 October 2015 at Platform, Glasgow, free to friends and family.
Jump In Fife was delivered in partnership with Hub8 in Fife at the beginning of 2015. The Hub now delivers weekly dance sessions every Tuesday for young people in primaries 4 – 7, from the Fife area, at the Lochgelly Centre.
