Moving Forward

(2017 – 2018) Moving Forward was a two-year dance and disability project which aimed to provide FREE regular dance activity for disabled young people in North Ayrshire, the Western Isles, Falkirk and North Lanarkshire.

(2018) A joint project between YDance and Scottish Ballet celebrating intergenerational dance and supported by Festival 2018.

(2017) Scotland’s Dancing: What’s your move? Dance Conference 2017. A dance conference for Scotland’s school teachers, dancers, dance artists and students to discuss the future of Scotland’s dance education.

Look Up, Look Under, Look Out

(2017) Project to develop creative dance skills and engage the imagination of primary school children to enable them to explore the history of their communities. Part of the Paisley2021 bid.

Let’s Dance European Project

(2016 – 2018) A community dance project for young people and dance artists in Germany, Netherlands, Scotland and Spain.

YDance Active

(2012 – 2016) A partnership with sportscotland to deliver the Active Girls Project, supporting teenage girls in Scotland to become more physically active through dance.

Jump In

(2015-2016) A project set up to establish a new dance group for 7 to 11 year olds in areas across Scotland with little or no dance provision.

One Step Further

(2014 – 2016) A free opportunity open to schools, colleges, universities and other organisations working with talented young dancers aged 16 to 21.

2015 World Gymnastics Championships

(2015) YDance was the official dance organisation of the 2015 World Gymnastics Championships in Glasgow.

BBC Performing Arts Fund

(2014 – 2015) YDance was awarded a grant from the BBC Performing Arts Fund to allow us to take on a BBC Fellow.

Commonwealth Youth Dance Festival

(2014) YDance invited 400 young people from 11 Commonwealth countries to take part in this 3 day Festival in Glasgow.

Local Heroes

(2014) A dance theatre project which brought to life the untold stories from letters and personal diaries of the men who served in the Cameronian regiment during First World War.


(2010) A project to support teachers at Dumfries High, Greenock Academy, Langholm Academy and Lenzie Academy with their delivery of Higher Dance.

Free to Dance

(2008 – 2012) This project involved teenage girls across Ayrshire, Glasgow and Orkney encouraging them get fit and feel good about themselves through dance.

Under the Same Sky

(2008 – 2011) This project took life in January 2008 when we invited asylum seekers, refugees and their friends from across Glasgow to come together.


(2010) A programme of quality dance experiences just for boys and young men across Scotland, which involved creating a number of local dance groups.


(Toured in 2007 & 2008) Take a journey into the heart of Corryvreckan, the third largest whirlpool in the world, in this exciting contemporary dance duet.

Dance in Schools Initiative

(2005 – 2008) A project aimed to get young people active, promote a sense of well-being and a respect for healthy living.

Olga the Brolga

(Toured in 2006 & 2007) Olga the Brolga is in a terrible mood. She desperately wants to dance but no one will dance with her.
