Launched in 2012 by YDance, the National Youth Dance Company of Scotland work with YDance Artistic Director, Anna Kenrick to develop their technical, creative and performance skills through a series of creation intensive weekends to create a new piece of contemporary dance each year. The company also have the opportunity to travel at home and abroad to work creatively with other dance companies and perform.

The company, all aged between 16 and 21, will spend their first week in Melbourne collaborating with Origins Dance Company creating new piece, Borderline which will be performed as part of a triple bill at Transit Dance on Saturday 6 July. NYDCS will also perform their own piece of work For Those Who Wait, choreographed by Anna Kenrick.

The second week will see the company take part in the Australian Youth Dance Festival which brings together youth dancers and their leaders from Australia and around the world for five days of creativity.

NYDCS will round off their participation in the festival by performing For Those Who Wait on Thursday 11 July at Melbourne’s famous Meat Market.
