Growing Days 2018 Rescheduled – Booking open

After the adverse weather conditions forcing us to cancel Growing Days, we are delighted to announce we have rescheduled the sessions for Saturday 14th and Sunday 15th April.

Booking is now open for YDance Routes Growing Days 2018 – a free professional development opportunity for Dance Artists, allowing them to spend a full day with a choreographer and also time to network with one another.

Growing Days will take place on Saturday 14th  and Sunday 15th April, 2018 at Deaf Connections, Glasgow with Benjamin Dunks, Artistic Director of Attik Dance.

Benjamin has been making, performing, directing and teaching in dance and theatre for 22 years. He trained at QUT and the Australian Ballet School in Australia before performing and touring with Dance North, Expressions, Leigh Warren and Dancers, Opera Queensland and Meryl Tankard ADT. He then moved to the UK where he worked with Attik Dance, Bare Bones Company, Protein Dance, Coisceim Dance Theatre and Wildworks Theatre. He has been Artistic Director of Attik Dance in Plymouth since 2011 and for the past 4 years, he has been developing radical new ways of working with children and young people in schools and in youth dance settings. He is currently exploring digital aspects of dance capture and performance, using augmented reality, virtual reality and accelerometry to interrogate movement and change in the dancer.

Over two days, this professional development opportunity will focus on how we explore dance in new and different ways with children and young people. Participants will explore identity formation, autonomy of decision making, creative fun and play. Both these days will be physical and creative sessions with significant time spent investigating participants own creative practices. Bookings can be made for both days or individual days.

On day one, artists will work with accelerometry and motion capture to begin the process of measuring change in the young dancer, alongside creating digital dance work. Day two will explore ways of working with hard to reach young people, looking at different problems in this area and the varying ways they can be solved.
