YDance (Scottish Youth Dance) has joined forces with London-based Dance Agency The Place to produce a brand new dance CD-ROM. Science~Physical offers a fresh approach to teaching Science in Primary schools while encouraging young people to get active through dance.
- Science~Physical is a unique resource for teaching science.
- It uses movement as part of a multi-sensory approach to delivering the science curriculum.
- The CD-ROM incorporates interactive games and lesson plans, 3-D animations, music, video footage and spoken raps with specially commissioned music tracks.
- Science~Physical contains resources for work in three topics: magnets and springs, the body, and light and shadow.
- Audio Tracks can be played on a CD player.
Half-day trainings include an introduction to the CD-ROM and a short practical session, followed by group tasks exploring selected topics in the Activities and Lessons section, along with an overview of the games, warm-ups, video, raps and audio sections.
Full day and longer training sessions allow participants to have hands-on use of the CD-ROM, and work on practical exercises from each of the three topic areas and experience using all of the onscreen resources including interactive tasks. They also provide training and advice in using Science~Physical to develop teachers own ideas for teaching science through dance.
In-services can also be tailored to address the individual needs or requests of participants. |
