Andrew Howitt
Artistic Director

Andy was born in Fife, and danced with Fife Youth Dance Company before going to the Laban Centre for Movement and Danc in London. He then joined Transitions Dance Company, also based at Laban. Since leaving college andy has danced and choreographed for Diversions Dance Company, Scottish Opera, TAG Theatre Compnay and Scottish Dance Theatre. In 1999 Andy became Artistic Director for YDance and in recent years has created a number of dance productions especially for young people - Story of the Blues and Olga the Brolga - as well as choreographing works with the St Magnus Festival, MacRobert and the Company of Angels.

Carolyn Lappin
Executive Director

Carolyn was educated at Glasgow University, and began working in the arts front of house at the Citizens' Theatre in Glasgow. From 1984 until 2001 she worked with Scottish Youth Theatre as General Manager, also managing the Old Athenaeum Theatre. Carolyn has also been Administrator for Winged Horse Touring Productions, IPB Productions and Spontaneous Combustions, and has represented Scotland on the Board of the Independent Theatre Council. She joined Scottish Youth Dance as General Manager in January 2002.

Anna Kenrick
Project Director

Anna trained at the Northern School of Contemporary Dance before working in London as freelance dancer and teacher. Anna then worked as a dance artist for The Place, Anjali Dance Company and Magpie Dance Company before joining Ludas Dance Company where she toured on a number of a productions over a five year period, before joining YDance in September 2007.

Sarah Potter
Project Administrator

Since graduating from a Comtemporary Performing Arts degree at King Alfred's in Winchester, Sarah has worked both as a performance artisit and a facilatator of arts projects in Scotland. Her own performance work ranges from conceptual installations to corpoate entertainment; due to her extensive dance training, Sarah's performance ventures are typically movement oreintated. Prior to joining YDance Sarah was a key member of the Operations Team at The Arches.

Sarah Stuart
Dance Development Officer

Sarah was initially educated at Edinburgh Univeristy before pursuing her love of dance and training at the Laban Centre London. Since graduating in 2000 she has workedextensively in community dance throughout Scotland as both a teacher and choreographer. Sarah has also co-ordinated and delivered numerous dance projects through her former roles as Dance Development Officer for East Renfrewshire council and Project Co-ordinator for Right2Dance.

Catriona Johnston
Trainee Dance Worker

Catriona began her professional training at the Scottish School of Contemporary Dance where she completed an NC in Dance Performance, she continued her studies at the Northern School of Contemporary Dance where she graduated with a BA(Hons) in Contemporary Dance. Since graduating Catriona has worked with Companies such as: Fusion Dance Company, State of Flux Dance Film Company, Nusantara - South East Asian Performing Arts Company and Anwesha Ahmed Dance Company.

Esther Currie
Marketing Manager

Since beginning her arts Marketing career at MacRobert in 2001, Esther has worked for Perth Theatre & Perth Concert Hall and the Edinburgh International Festival.

Victoria Ram
Marketing Assistant

Victoria started dancing at the age of the 3 and has performed Internationally with a number of Companies including Lord of the Dance and The Irish Folk Ballet Company. This is her first arts marketing position since graduating from Paisley University.

Denise McLeod
Administrator

Denise has vast experience in administration and finance, having worked for companies such as Informa Tech and M & D's Leisure prior to joining YDance.

Brian Morton
Chair

Brian is Sales and Marketing Director of Dunfermline Building Society. Brian has worked in the mutual sector for over thirty years and previous experiences include establishing an offshore bank as MD of Newcastle Bank (Gibraltar). Brian's main interest on the board is in the field of sales and marketing.

Sue Mitchell
Board Member

Sue is a Community Education worker in Morayshire. She previously worked as a professional dancer and dance tutor, and also works in drama, masks and mime.

Stewart Harris
Board Member

Stewart is currently Acting CEO of sportscotland, and has been Director of Widening Opportunities for SS since 2001. Prior to that, he was Head of Youth Sport and Basketball Co-ordinator. Until joining sportscotland in 1991, he was a Physical Education Teacher in Dundee for 12 years . Stewart brings vast experience and excellent contacts in the field of sports and PE to the YDance Board.

Ian Spink
Board Member

Ian is the Artistic Director for CityMoves Dance Space in Aberdeen.

Deirdre MacDonald
Board Member

Deirdre has worked in the field of Human Resources and currently works on talent management and leadership development with Scottish Power. She brings organisational development skills as well as HR skills to the board.

Mhairi Currie
Board Member

Mhairi is the Arts Links Officer for North Lanarkshire Council and has worked in the arts for over 13 years. She studied Fine Art Painting and Drawing and Media Management. Mhairi's main areas of interset are in creativity in education and the impact of the arts on learning.

Ian Dewar
Board Member

Ian is currently an accountant with Dunalastair Estates Ltd. Prior to this he worked for the King's and Festival Theatres in Edinburgh as Depute Finance Manager.

Ian has been involved in Youth Theatre for many years and during this time has directed many plays and musicals for high profile events such as the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. Ian is also a Scout Leader and a volunteer befriender with Children 1st in Edinburgh.

Gordon McAllister
Board Member

A qualified Chartered Accountant, Gordon was appointed Financial Accountant at the Scottish Association of Marine Science (SAMS) based at Dunstaffnage, Oban - an organisation which promotes the study of marine science through research and education. Gordon has over 34 years experience of providing advice to a wide range of businesses and has particular expertise in both the charity and contemporary arts sectors.
