Sue Mitchell – Chair

Sue has had a lifelong interest in dance, theatre and education. She has been Dance Artist in Residence for Aberdeenshire, Director of Out of the Darkness Theatre Company and currently manages the Workers Education Association for Highland.

Michelle Borland

Michelle has had experience working in a range of private and public sector roles, always with a focus on understanding and meeting the needs of customers. She has a Bachelor of Commerce in Marketing and Global Business Management and is currently working towards her Master in Business Administration at the University of Strathclyde Business School.

Michelle started her career in the Canadian retail banking sector before spending time travelling in Europe and Asia. She managed an English language communication school in Osaka, Japan before taking up a corporate communications role at the Royal Bank of Scotland in Edinburgh. Six years ago she moved into a policy role at sportscotland, the national agency for sport, and currently leads on sportscotland’s corporate and business planning processes as well as its performance measurement and reporting systems.

Alan Busby

Alan is Head of Events at the Glasgow Chamber of Commerce where he’s worked since 2005. He has a BA (Hons) in Marketing and Politics and an MSc in Entrepreneurial Studies and Business Growth and brings a wealth of business experience from his roles with the Methodist Church in London, Marks & Spencer and the Glasgow Chamber of Commerce.

Carolyn Lappin

Carolyn, who is also Executive Director of YDance, was educated at Glasgow University, and began working in the arts front of house at the Citizens’ Theatre in Glasgow. From 1984 until 2001 she worked with Scottish Youth Theatre as General Manager, also managing the Old Athenaeum Theatre. Carolyn has also been Administrator for Winged Horse Touring Productions, IPB Productions and Spontaneous Combustions, and has represented Scotland on the Board of the Independent Theatre Council. She joined Scottish Youth Dance as General Manager in January 2002.

Was the Deputy Director of Social Work for Glasgow.

Ian Dewar – Honorary Treasurer

Ian is currently an accountant with Dunalastair Estates Ltd. Prior to this he worked for the King’s and Festival Theatres in Edinburgh as Depute Finance Manager. He has been involved in Youth Theatre for many years and during this time has directed many plays and musicals for high profile events such as the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. Ian is also a Scout Leader and a volunteer befriender with Children 1st in Edinburgh.
